"Mrs. A. Amundson of Fosston, Minn., arrived in the city today, called by the death of Mrs. Carl O. Syverson, one of the oldest settlers of Rock Dell township. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon from the United Church, the Rev. Mr. Lunde officiating. The deceased was born in Rock Prairie, Wis., Oct. 1, 1833 and was united in marriage to Carl O. Syverson May 17 1857, coming to Olmsted county immediately. "Mrs. C. O. Syverson died at her home Sunday Feb 12. Miss Guri Nelson was born in Ness, Norway Oct. 1, 1843. At an early age she came with her parents to Janesville, Wis., where on May 21, 1857 she was married to Carl O. Syverson coming immediately to their pioneer home in Rock Dell, where she has continuously lived. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Caroline Amundson of Fosston, Martin and Nathan of this place, who with the husband and father, mourn the loss of a wife and mother. Mrs. Syverson was truly a Christian character, and many are the fond recollections of her pleasing attitude and hospitable nature of the pioneers day. The funeral was held from Zions church Thursday, her Pastor, Rev. Lunde, officiating. To the aged husband, in his loneliness, we extend our deepest sympathy; also tendering to the immediate family our condolence." --- Stewartville [MN] Star, 17 Feb 1911.
