  "Mads S. Boy, farmer, was born in Langeland, Denmark, July 20, 1815. He grew up at that place, and worked at brick making. He was married in Zealand to Anna Maria Larson, a native of Denmark, and whose birth dates December 10, 1816. He emigrated to America in 1865, and settled in Canisteo, where he now has one hundred and eighty acres of land. He has five children living: Lars H., now treasurer of Chippewa County; Maria, Andrea Sophia, Hans Christian, and Gotfred, who was born in Zealand August 31, 1859, making him six years old when he came to this country. He received a common school education, and has always been on the farm. Two years were spent in Mower County, and one year in Chippewa County. He now owns eighty-five acres on Section 27. August 12, 1881, he was married to Ingeborg Oleson Bjardal, a native of Norway. They have one child, Amelia, born July 28, 1882." --- History of Winona, Olmsted, & Dodge Counties, H. H. Hill & Co.
